An informative &#8211; but also quite amusing&nbsp;&#8211; blog-mediated Java vs .NET flame-war seems to be starting between some guy called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freeroller.net\/page\/ceperez\">Carlos Perez<\/a> and Developmentor&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/staff.develop.com\/jasonw\/weblog\">Jason Whittington<\/a>. It seems to have started over at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.javalobby.org\/thread.jsp?forum=61&amp;thread=6353\">javalobby.org<\/a>&nbsp;and Carlos&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freeroller.net\/page\/ceperez\/20030110#why_java_is_better_than1\">blog<\/a>. Jason posts some pro-dotnet <a href=\"http:\/\/staff.develop.com\/jasonw\/weblog\/2003\/01\/11.html\">responses<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/radiocomments.userland.com\/comments?u=115946&amp;p=125&amp;link=http%3A%2F%2Fstaff.develop.com%2Fjasonw%2Fweblog%2F2003%2F01%2F11.html%23a125\">comments<\/a> hit the fan. Worth a read.<\/p>\n<p>For what its worth, I definitely side with the .NET camp on this one.&nbsp;The technology&#8217;s&nbsp;advantages over Java are just too compelling: in particular, language neutrality, the superb toolset, the ability to write rich, responsive client apps, and support for legacy COM components. Even if Microsoft is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/news\/infostructure\/0,1377,57073,00.html\">forced<\/a> to ship Sun&#8217;s Java runtime with its future OS&#8217;s, I think Java&#8217;s days are numbered.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I sense a great disturbance in the blogosphere.
